This page explains what we collect on ForageandForests.com, why, and how to
reach us. We keep it short and we don't sell your data or run advertising trackers.
What we collect
- Email address — only when you give it to us: to join the
Kickstarter notification list, to sign up for playtesting, or (optionally)
when you submit feedback and want a reply.
- Feedback you submit — the message, an optional rating, and
which part of the site it came from.
- Usage and technical data — when you visit or play, we log
your IP address, browser/user-agent string, the referring page,
and in-game events (for example: page views, starting a game, opening the
rulebook, downloading the print-and-play kit). This first-party logging helps
us understand how the game is used and improve it.
Why we collect it
- To send you the things you asked for (Kickstarter launch notice, the
print-and-play files).
- To run and improve the game and the playtest, and to understand traffic and
gameplay (our legitimate interest in developing the product).
- To prevent abuse and keep the service working.
Cookies
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our analytics is
first-party — events are recorded on our own server rather than shared with an
ad network.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of service providers strictly to operate the site:
- Vercel — hosting and request logs.
- Our database host (a managed PostgreSQL provider) — stores
signups, feedback, and event logs.
- Resend — sends the emails you request (confirmation and the
print-and-play kit).
How long we keep it
We keep signup and feedback data until you ask us to remove it or the project
no longer needs it. Technical/event logs are retained for a limited period for
analytics and security.
Your choices & rights
You can ask us to access or delete your data, or unsubscribe, at any time —
just email us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights
(access, correction, deletion, objection) under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect
their data.
